For those of you who have ordered from TireRack.com, if you don’t have the equipment, who do you find to mount your new tires for you?

tire rack has “installers.” just check the site, plug in your zip, and it’ll give you a list.

In the UK if we buy tyres online without fitting pretty much any shop will fit them for us. For a price.

I’ve had tires shipped to a local tire shop and they mounted and balanced them for me. I paid them for that, obviously.
Just call and ask around.

I went to the local shop down the street. I’ve used them a hand ful of times for M&B (winter > summer > winter > summer....) with no issue. It’s a small job.

Like Dr Scientist said, they have installers and the ratings are extremely accurate. My friend’s shop is on there, and have to say, the people that leave feedback there are very honest.

If they don’t list any in your area, just call a few local places with good reputations and ask... I find NTB overpriced. (that’s why we got our own tire equipment at home)

I had mine sent to the local Goodyear, which was on their installer list.
I knew that even if I managed to pry the tires onto the wheels, even if I was able to seat the bead and air them up, they still have to be balanced. An alignment is also a good idea.
No point in having Tire Rack even send them to my house in the first place. I just drove my car on its spare to Goodyear, where the tires were waiting, and got everything done there.

Tire shops will do it for a charge. Call around and get prices. Make sure you tell them if you have TPSM’s, as some shops (escpecially the chains) will up-charge you for that, sometimes like an extra $10 per wheel. I found a local shop that didn’t do that.

Just about any chain shop is an authorized installer. Monro muffler, pep boys, etc...

If you ship to a Tire Rack recommended installer, you can skip all the nonsense of calling around to places and asking if they’ll put the tires on for you. They’re already set up with Tire Rack, they just get sent an order sheet and know the deal. You call to confirm they’re going to receive your order and that’s it.

Any reputable garage will have a hunter road force machine. Check out the site http://www.gsp9700.com/search/findgsp… to see who has it.
I’ve gotten a few sets of tires mounted at random garages that have the machine. I just tip the guy ahead of time so that he takes care not to scratch the rim.

I recently did this and went down to one of the mom and pop shops in Chula Vista for $40; which included mounting, balance, and install.

I’ve found shops here in california are so much in fear of litigation that they will refuse to install anything that is not purchased directly from them.

Man that’s awful, before I bought my own tools I used to rip parts off cars in scrapyards and pay a small fee to a local shop to have them fitted this was about 5 years ago, so it’s not like the olden days.

It kind of depends where you are though. Mexico is only about a 20 minute drive from my house, so I can pretty much get anything I want done down there, should I choose to go, but I just hate going there. Not because of the shope or the people, I just get rolled by the TJ cops every time I go there.

Reminds me of a situation they used to have in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. I forget which way round it was was but people would travel into their neighbouring country to buy their groceries because it was cheaper. I think it was the weak Euro versus a very strong Great British Pound that caused it.

It’s a little different. More of a matter of liability rather than cost. Some shops a little closer to the border will do it too, saving me from having to make the trip.

But the driving across borders for goods and services is similar. I blame the suing culture really messes up everything out there

Any Tire Kings owned place (i.e. Merchant’s Tire& Auto) should do it if your tires are new.
